Location: The house is situated in the small hamlet of Plantades, about 15km from the spa town of La Bourboule and 50km from Clermont Ferrand, the capital city of the Auvergne region. It sits on the edge of the Artense plateau with views of the Sancy mountain range close to the deep wooded gorges that form the head waters of the Dordogne river.

The property is a good base for exploring the region on foot, on horseback or by bike. Local attractions include the 'fairytale' Chateau de Val, the school museum at Bogros and Miniature museum at St Sauves. The local cheese maker at Aveze offers guided tours. Some local lakes offer swimming. The major tourist attraction of Vulcania, the european centre for volcanic studies is approximately 45 minutes drive away.
